What Am I Going To Do With All This Fabric... the Wednesday edition

So you love vintage fabric. Really love it. As in it is taking over your craft room, your guest room, your linen closet, your living room, ... I exaggerate, but you get the idea. You love the fabric and need ideas of what to do with it! Voila... [These items are actually for sale in various Etsy shops, but I think they are cute ideas!]

Display your fabric with an embroidery hoop
Such a cute and easy idea that can be done by even those who love fabric but hate to sew! Would be super cute grouped together.

Made from a Vintage 1948 pattern. I love the idea of using old patterns and vintage fabrics to make new creations!

Fabric Spotlight: GRAIN SACK

Even better than vintage burlap is antique grain sack. Similar in original use to old feedsack, these didn't have fun patterns to make into quilts and clothing. These are more primitive yet equally as alluring. Here are some fun finds:

ORGANIZATION: A Must

It is hard to get organized. Especially when you have so many different fabrics in different sizes, thicknesses, etc. But here are some handy items to help get you motivated:

IKEA Antonius Wire Basket, $3.25
Cute for storing fabric scraps. Use a bookshelf and alternate between these wire baskets, the EMU boxes below, and simply folding the larger fabric pieces for a cute industrial yet retro look! Can't beat the price!

IKEA EMU set of 2 boxes, $6.99
Great for storing those small fabric scraps in that you want to save, yet don't look so great displayed out in the open.

IKEA Rationell Variera Spice Rack, $12.99
Hang a few of these for a really cute look. Great for small ribbons, buttons, laces, pins & needles, etc!

OfficeMax Aluminum Framed Cork Board
Don't forget to get a large cork board to use to lay out your latest quilt or project! This way, you can just pin the fabrics to the board, and not have to worry about leaving them out on the floor or on the table, which is usually in the way! These come in a wide variety of sizes, up to 8 feet by 4 feet. If you need bigger, buy more than one and group together.

FABRIC SPOTLIGHT: Burlap

I love burlap. New or old, it has a timeless appeal. It can be modern, vintage, whimsey, or anywhere in between. And lately, it seems that burlap can be use just about anywhere... which I love, especially because of it's extremely low cost when purchased new. Here are some fun examples:

Things I ♥ ... 2-2-10

Here are some fabulous finds for this week... some vintage, most are vintage-esque:

I can totally see this in a summer cottage somewhere! I love the added texture, too!

Not vintage, but has that added Parisian charm in a fabric that always adds a little character: burlap.

Wouldn't this be gorgeous with a vintage lampshade?
Or with a lampshade made from vintage fabric?

Change it up by putting the rug on top of the table. Makes for a much more comfortable foot rest!

Not vintage, but Anthropologie often makes quilts and textiles inspired from Paris Flea Markets. I love their stuff, and this is even more fabulous than usual!
